The SFPE Educational & Scientific Foundation is proud to announce a number of initiatives and the availability of resources to address fires in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI).   

New York has taken an important step to improve the safety, accessibility and resilience of its communities.

ASSE professional qualification standard working group members will assist the Professional Qualifications Standards Committee (PQSC) with the continued development of these American National Standards.

Recent amendments to the Maryland State Fire Prevention Code have eliminated the requirement to retrofit existing high-rise residential buildings with automatic fire sprinkler systems, a deeply concerning reversal of nationally recognized life safety standards. 

The SFPE Foundation is pleased to celebrate the 10 recipients of its 2025 awards.

Fellow membership represents the highest professional honor of SFPE and is bestowed to individuals who have amassed significant accomplishments and stature in fire protection engineering.

Warehouse fires occur more than four times a day in the U.S., and while the risks are significant, proper fire protection system design, maintenance, and awareness of storage hazards can make all the difference in preventing loss of life and property.

This significant public awareness campaigns was created to educate the public and policymakers about the life-saving role of independently developed safety codes and standards — and to defend a system now under threat.

Held at The Westin Bayshore in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, from Oct. 21-23, the SFPE Conference & Expo is the place where fire protection engineers and fire safety professionals come together to learn, network, engage, and be inspired.

This milestone marks the continuation of a proud family tradition, as Joe becomes the third generation of the McHugh family to help lead the company.
