WQA/ASPE Sustainable Water Treatment Media Standard Available for Public Review

October 15, 2021
WQA/ASPE Sustainable Water Treatment Media Standard Available for Public Review

On Aug. 6, the Water Quality Association (WQA) and ASPE announced their intent to reaffirm WQA/ASPE S-802 (2017): Sustainable Water Treatment Media. Following the Procedures for ASPE Design Standards Development, the standard is now available for a 45-day public review.

The media included in the scope of this voluntary product sustainability certification standard include activated carbon and ion-exchange resin (or blends thereof) commonly utilized in the treatment of drinking water for any of the following end-use applications: point of use (POU) systems or products, point of entry (POE) systems, commercial/industrial systems, and municipal supplies. The requirements of this standard shall be applicable to all production facilities, owned or controlled by the applicant company, encompassing all phases of production.

Directly and materially affected interests wishing to comment on this reaffirmation are requested to do so by Nov. 22, 2021.

To obtain a copy of the standard and the comment form, contact ASPE Director of Communication and Publications Gretchen Pienta at gpienta@aspe.org, or visit aspe.org/publications-news/standards.

A notice of this public review was published in the October 8, 2021 edition of ANSI Standards Action.
