Plumbing, Mechanical Industry and Water Efficiency Leaders to Co-Convene 2020 EWTS

Emerging Water Technology Symposium Announces Call for Abstracts

Preparations are already underway to ensure that the 2020 Emerging Water Technology Symposium (EWTS), to be held May 12-13, 2020, at the Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio, is the most comprehensive and informative event since the symposium debuted in 2008. Online registration is available at www.aspe.org/2020-ewts-registration/.

An unprecedented number of organizations, representing the foremost leaders in the plumbing industry, have signed on to present the symposium as co-conveners. They are the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE), the Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE), the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), and Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI), in cooperation with the World Plumbing Council (WPC).

"The participation of such a diverse and widely respected group of organizations in the planning and presentation of this seventh Emerging Water Technology Symposium will certainly make it the most important plumbing technology event in North America in 2020," said IAPMO CEO GP Russ Chaney. "IAPMO is honored to be part of what will no doubt be an historic forum for innovation and for addressing the challenges in delivering safe water in and around buildings."

Building upon a highly successful and globally acclaimed formula refined during six previous symposiums (Chicago, 2008; Ontario, California, 2010; Washington, D.C., 2012 and 2014; Chicago, 2016; and Ontario, California, 2018), the event will gather plumbers, contractors, engineers, manufacturers, water efficiency experts, and academia to introduce new technologies for the plumbing industry and discuss how policy initiatives can drive the introduction of these technologies to market and advance the cause of water and energy efficiency.

The EWTS is designed to provide a portal for the host organizations' partners in the manufacturing, engineering and trade industries to display and demonstrate their innovative solutions to legislative and regulatory developments that often alter industry landscapes.

Sponsors, presenters and panelists participating in this symposium represent a diverse body of knowledge in the following fields:

  • Water, sanitation and health
  • Water and energy efficiency
  • Water reuse
  • Addressing aging water infrastructure
  • Water quality
  • Mitigating opportunistic pathogens
  • Advancements in mechanical systems
  • Plumbing research initiatives
  • Laws, regulations and policy development
  • Topics raised by audience participants during the symposium

Further details are forthcoming, including the keynote speaker, presentation topics and sponsorship opportunities. For further information, contact Maria Bazan at 708-995-3000 or maria.bazan@iapmo.org.
