Since 2008, the mikeroweWORKS Foundation has awarded more than $3.1 million in work ethics scholarships to nearly 900 recipients.

Generous supporters Joel and Renee Long and Rick and Bonnie Whitaker have been named to the organization’s board of governors.

A total of 50 students received scholarships.

Christopher Redfern, Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 553 in Staunton, Illinois, won first place in the Plumbing Apprentice Contest and Kyle Robert Dennis, Pipefitters Local 539/Yale Mechanical in Saint Francis, Minnesota, won first place in the HVAC Apprentice Contest.

The Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore is a home improvement thrift store that sells donated new and gently used merchandise at a significant discount to the general public.

More than 2,600 union tradeswomen came together to network and learn from each other, including more than 400 UA journeywomen and apprentices, business managers and agents supporting their locals.

In addition to being an instructor at PHCC of GLAA, DeSantis regularly teaches at California Building Officials meetings and also serves as the mechanical code instructor for the city of Los Angeles.

With a background as a licensed master plumber and more than 30 years of experience along with his devotion for the trade, Midgett is recognized throughout the industry as an excellent instructor and mentor for students and apprentices.
