The Don P. and Elaine M. Hayden scholarships help address Rhode Island’s critical labor shortage by providing financial support for students enrolled in RWU’s trades programs.

Already excelling in the plumbing profession while still learning, Valerie Butler was honored recently as the PHCC 2025 Plumbing Apprentice of the Year.

Demonstrating exceptional technical skills, leadership, and a passion for the HVAC profession, Jantzen Fisher of South Dakota has been named the 2025 HVAC Apprentice of the Year.

The award – sponsored by PHCC Corporate Partner Milwaukee Tool – was presented at PHCC CONNECT 2025 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The PHCC Educational Foundation is proud to announce the winners of its national plumbing apprentice contest. 

Through the Employment Training Panel, the cash targets 88 apprenticeship programs and 22,208 workers, many in construction.

Under the renewed five-year agreement, the alliance will develop curricula addressing a range of topics, including hazards in the construction industry.
