After nearly three decades in one industry, starting over takes grit.

This month, the RUGGED Resilience Spotlight series recognizes Thomas Van Pelt, director of operations at Well Manager LLC, for turning an unexpected career transition into an opportunity to learn, lead and help grow a small business serving customers across the country.

After nearly 30 years in pharmaceutical manufacturing, Van Pelt was laid off as part of a company restructuring. Rather than let the setback define his next chapter, he brought his entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on manufacturing management experience to Well Manager LLC, a manufacturing, plumbing and electrical company that develops solutions for low-yield wells and low water pressure.

Stepping into a new industry brought new challenges, but Van Pelt quickly became a key driver of Well Manager’s growth. He helped double the staff, mentor new employees, improve products, expand the customer base and build a nationwide partner network.

Through that growth, Van Pelt has remained focused on quality products, customer education, and building strong relationships with plumbing professionals and partners across the country.
