Heating Solutions Sales Co. (HSSC) recently announced the promotion of Chris Mitchell to president and Dave Walsh to vice president of sales for wholesale products. HSSC is part of Burnham Holdings Inc. and is responsible for the sales and marketing of all products manufactured by its subsidiary companies, including the U.S. Boiler, Burnham Commercial and Thermal Solutions brands.

Mitchell will succeed Dan Cork, who is retiring as president of HSSC after a long and distinguished career in the industry. Mitchell began his career in the technology and logistics sectors before joining Burnham Commercial in 2013 in a technical sales role. He later became director of sales and marketing before transitioning to U.S. Boiler, initially serving as sales director for the Mid-Atlantic and Western regions. In 2018, he was named director of sales and marketing. When HSSC was formed in January 2022, Mitchell was appointed vice president of wholesale products, overseeing all residential lines.

“Dan is a tough act to follow, but I’m excited to have the opportunity,” Mitchell said. “We have tremendous momentum building behind our brands, and the best part is that we’re just getting started.”

His experience in both the residential and commercial sectors of the business gives him valuable perspective.

“I’m grateful that I’ve been part of both sides of the industry and understand their differences and similarities,” he said. “Ultimately, the thing that I’m most grateful for are the people — those that work for us and with us, as well as those we ultimately work for: our customers. They are the reason why I’m so passionate about this industry.”

Walsh will succeed Mitchell as vice president of wholesale products for HSSC. He brings 37 years of exclusive experience in the hydronics industry. He began his career at Weil-McLain in 1988, eventually becoming vice president of sales and marketing before founding his own company in 2008. He later held roles at ECR and NTI as director of sales and vice president of sales, respectively, before joining HSSC in April 2024.

“I am very excited to be part of the HSSC team,” Walsh said. “I’ve been in the business for 37 years, but it’s actually longer than that because I installed boilers with my dad and brothers when I was young. I’ve been truly blessed and fortunate over the years.”

He reflected on his new role and the shift from working for a competitor.

“Coming to HSSC is surreal in many ways,” he said. “It’s like starting with the Yankees and ending up with the Red Sox — or vice versa. U.S. Boiler was always a noble competitor, and I’ve had the opportunity to interact with many members of the sales team over the years. They’re good people, and I’m thrilled to be part of the family now.”

After a year with HSSC, Walsh shared additional thoughts about the organization and his role.

“As I was going through the onboarding process, I got to know a lot more about the people and culture at HSSC and Burnham Holdings overall,” he said. “Who you work with and how they interact is vital to any organization. The people here, the overall vision and complete commitment to delivering the best products in the industry were a perfect fit for me.”
