Metropolitan Air Compressor, a Michigan distributor of commercial air compressors, has enrolled in DTE Energy’s MIGreenPower Program to green its operations. The company’s clean energy commitment attributes 100% of the energy used by its facilities to DTE wind and solar projects and has the environmental benefit equal to planting 462 trees.
“We are proud to join DTE’s MIGreenPower program and to do our part in increasing renewable energy,” said President Kevin Merritt. “We only have one planet, and we help our customers save energy through our audits and products. We have upgraded our facilities to include more energy efficient products and now we can say we are 100% renewable! This is just another step for us in doing our part as an organization and I am hoping that others see what we are doing and follow. No one company can do this alone.”
Metro Air is an air compressor distributor that believes in treating its employees and customers like family. Helping the environment is just another way to give back. Metro Air has taken many steps to diminish its carbon footprint such as recycling oil, metal and other products along with installing energy efficient lights throughout its facilities.
“As a company we feel an obligation to be responsible with energy and make a positive impact on our environment for future generations. We are excited to participate in the MIGreenPower program with DTE to contribute to Michigan’s clean energy economy,” said Melissa Kyweski, chief financial officer.
DTE Energy’s MIGreenPower program is one of the largest voluntary renewable energy programs in the United States. DTE also leads Michigan in renewable energy production and investment. The company’s 18 wind parks and 31 solar farms generate enough clean energy to power more than 600,000 homes.
“We are excited to welcome Metro Air into the MIGreenPower program,” said Brian Calka, director of DTE’s Renewable Energy Solutions team. “Customers who join this program are accelerating the development of new renewable energy in Michigan. They play an important role in the fight against climate change.”
Metro Air joins more than 200 other businesses who are using MIGreenPower to help meet their sustainability goals, including companies such as General Motors, Ford, and University of Michigan. The program also has more than 23,000 residential subscribers.
