PRIER Encourages Public to Detach Hoses for the Winter with #DetachYourHoseDay Campaign

PRIER Encourages Public to Detach Hoses for Winter – $4 Billion Lost to Frozen, Burst Pipes 2

What: Coinciding with National Checklist Day, PRIER Products, designer and manufacturer of freeze-proof residential and commercial hydrants, encourages businesses and homeowners to detach hoses, nozzles, splitters and timers for the winter season.

When: Friday, Oct. 30, 2020 (All Day)

Why: Every year 250,000 families lose possessions and have their lives disrupted due to frozen pipes. Insurance companies paid out more than $4 billion in claims for frozen, burst pipes in the past decade, according to the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety. The average insurance claim is $15,000.

More than 250 gallons of water per day can flow out from just a one-eighth inch rupture. When the hose, splitter, nozzle, timer and other accessories are detached, the hose faucet will drain upon shutoff, and remain freeze-proof when not in use. Watch how a freezeless hydrant works.

PRIER seeks to save homeowners and businesses from the hassle of flooded structures by sharing simple tips and sponsoring #DetachYourHoseDay.

The #DetachYourHoseDay PSA campaign launched last year with a great amount of traction from the plumbing, engineer, insurance and facility management industries.
