Peter Seiffert Passes Away

January 17, 2020
Peter Seiffert Passes Away

Peter Shand Seiffert, 77, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, at his home in Baldwinsville, New York, on Jan. 14.

Peter grew up in Webster, New York, with his brothers, David and Robert. He graduated from Norwich University in Vermont where he was active in the ski patrol. He married the love of his life, Barbara, on Aug. 25, 1973.

Peter was the general manager of Inland Supply Inc., a branch of family-owned Supply One Corp. He was a president of the Bethlehem Jaycees and served on the Radisson Community Association board. Peter was a 35-year member and past president of the Syracuse Rotary Club and Foundation where he had been actively serving as a trustee.

Peter's passion was building and flying model airplanes, serving as past president of Syracuse Thunderbirds Aero Radio Society (S.T.A.R.S.) Model Airplane Club, as well as Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) associate vice president for District II. He enjoyed working on his home, walking, and boating and loved his family annual trip to Keuka Lake. In the last few years he enjoyed traveling with Barbara and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara (Lockwood) Seiffert; his children, Peter II (Jackie), Judith, Scott (Caroline), and Sara (Robert) Ward; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two brothers, David (Suzanne), Robert (Sylvia); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

A celebration of Peter's life will be held Sunday, Jan. 19 at 4 p.m. at Maurer Funeral Home: Moyers Corners, 3541 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Peter's name may be made to Syracuse Rotary Foundation, 800 Nottingham Road, Syracuse, NY 13224, or any charity of choice.
