ASSE International is seeking members for a working group to update ASSE/IAPMO/ANSI 5000, Cross-Connection Control Professional Qualifications Standard.
ASSE 5000 working group members will be assisting the Professional Qualifications Standards Committee (PQSC) with the ongoing maintenance and revision of this American National Standard. All working groups operate in accordance with ASSE’s accredited procedures for standards development:
“This standard addresses the need for professional qualifications standards for the plumbing and mechanical industries, specifically the minimum qualifications for people involved in backflow prevention,” said Terry Burger, ASSE/IAPMO’s senior director of Standards Development.
ASSE/IAPMO/ANSI 5000 was developed to better meet the needs of the industry. This standard defines the minimum requirements for testing backflow prevention assemblies meeting the performance requirements of ASSE Standards 1013, 1015, 1020, 1047, 1048, 1052 and 1056, and establishes the minimum qualifications requirements for the ASSE/IAPMO/ANSI 5000 Professional Qualifications certification programs.
The working group will meet in person, Jan. 26-27, at ASSE International Headquarters in Mokena.
The deadline to apply is Dec. 15. Applications can be completed at the following URL: https://asse-plumbing.org/membership/committees/working-group-application
Industry stakeholders — including installers, manufacturers, plumbing professionals, building owners and managers, engineers, AHJs, and the general public — are invited and encouraged to apply to participate.
If you are interested in serving on this working group, please contact ASSE Standards at [email protected] with a completed application and résumé by the Dec. 15 deadline. Please contact Terry Burger at [email protected] with any questions.
