PERC Awards TSP with 2019 Propane Project of the Year Accolade
The Propane Education & Research Council announced TSP as the winner of its 2019 Propane Project of the Year contest, which honors the best residential and commercial projects being powered by propane.

The contest, which launched this year, was open to builders, remodelers, architects, engineers, and trade professionals in the United States.

TSP is an architecture and engineering firm with offices in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Nebraska that focuses on commercial projects in education, healthcare, and community. TSP won PERC's $10,000 grand prize for its work on Andes Central High School located in Lake Andes, South Dakota.

"With this contest, we are excited to recognize construction professionals achieving world-class building projects by incorporating propane-powered appliances," said Bryan Cordill, PERC director of residential and commercial business development. "Propane can power nearly every system throughout a home or commercial building including water heaters, furnaces, kitchens, outdoor living amenities, and more."

TSP's winning project consisted of designing a 55,000-square-foot high school onto the existing 25,000-square-foot elementary school. The project included the installation of a number of sustainable, energy-efficient features including two propane boilers and two propane water heaters. The school's existing kitchen already incorporated propane cooking appliances. These high-efficiency propane-powered appliances were chosen to help the school cut energy consumption. The school aims to cut the energy it uses and get the best return on its energy investment, said Debra Lucas, Andes Central School District superintendent.

TSP donated its $10,000 cash prize to Andes Central School District. TSP CEO Jared Nesje presented the check to Andes Central School Board President Debbie Houseman and other school board members at a November board meeting. Lucas said the prize money will be used to buy new playground equipment.
