Plumbing engineers should get involved as early as possible to understand equipment requirements, staff workflows, needed source equipment and space considerations.

Understanding the strategies allows fire protection engineers and system designers to help influence the ceiling design that may, in turn, result in a more efficient sprinkler design and layout. 

Economic trends, such as rising prices for raw materials; challenges, including supply chain issues and labor shortages; and technology disruptors, such as the Internet of Things, will require manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and retailers to be nimble in the coming year.
