Synergy Solution Group is proud to announce Storer Services as the winner of the 2025 Best Idea Challenge, presented during the Executives Forum in Carmel, California. Their winning submission introduced a creative, hands-on approach to apprenticeship training designed to give technicians in remote areas greater access to practical learning.

The Best Idea Challenge is a long-standing Synergy tradition that highlights meaningful innovations shared within the commercial mechanical contracting community. Ten member companies present ideas that have positively impacted their business, and Synergy members vote to determine the winner. Each participating company contributes a $100 submission fee, with the winner receiving the full pot. Synergy then matches that amount and donates it to a charity selected by the winning company.

Storer Services earned this year’s top honor by tackling a challenge many mechanical contractors face today: how to effectively support apprentices who do not have regular access to in-person instruction. While digital learning tools offer flexibility, Storer Services recognized the need for a training resource that provides a more tactile, real-world learning experience.

Their solution centers on creating custom hands-on training models that allow apprentices to better understand mechanical concepts, system configurations, and foundational skills no matter where they are located. By developing these models in-house, the company created a scalable training tool that enhances engagement and supports long-term workforce development.

The award continues Synergy’s focus on peer-driven learning and investing in the next generation of mechanical talent. Storer Services will direct the matched donation to a charity of their choice, extending the positive impact of their winning idea even further.
