HomeServe USA announced its acquisition of CroppMetcalfe. Based in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area, CroppMetcalfe serves residential and commercial customers throughout D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia.
CroppMetcalfe marks its 40th anniversary this year. CroppMetcalfe was founded in 1979 by Mitchell Cropp, and has remained family-owned by Cropp and his sons, Tim, Greg and Brian. It is one of the largest heating, air conditioning, plumbing and home security contractors in the D.C. region. CroppMetcalfe has about 300 area employees and close to 200 service vehicles.
Mitchell was awarded the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors National Association's annual HVAC Contractor of the Year Award at last year's CONNECT 2018 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The award salutes the contractor best demonstrating professionalism, merchandising and management skills, innovative HVAC practices, trade involvement and community service.
“Wanting to be a great company and becoming that company are different things,” said the nomination submitted by PHCC of Virginia. “Mitchell Cropp is a testament to how responsive employees and customers can be when their interests and concerns are at the forefront of business decisions.”
Adding CroppMetcalfe to HomeServe’s quickly growing HVAC business nearly doubles its HVAC workforce, and offers the company the opportunity to significantly increase its customer base in and around the nation’s capital.
“Whether homes and communities are old or new, they all have one thing in common: the need for skilled and reliable tradespeople. That’s what the people of the D.C. area have gotten for 40 years from CroppMetcalfe. And that’s why we’re proud to have them join our company,” said John Kitzie, CEO of HomeServe North America. “As we explore opportunities to expand our home services business around the U.S., we’re laser focused on finding companies with business traits similar to CroppMetcalfe and the other high-quality, well-respected companies we have acquired to date.”
