The International Code Council has raised more than $110,000 for American Red Cross disaster relief in the aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. That dollar amount ends the ICC’s matching campaign.

However, with hurricane season far from over, the ICC suggests other ways to help:

  • Add your name to ICC’s Disaster Response Network . The DRN gives member building safety professionals the opportunity to volunteer to help jurisdictions that request aid with building damage assessment, building inspections and other code-related functions in disaster areas.
  • Sign up to house a volunteer. ICC is establishing the Hurricane Harvey Code Heroes Housing Network. The network will connect volunteers with available rooms in the area.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest from ICC. As the situation in Texas and Louisiana develops, the ICC will be sending out periodic updates.
  • Volunteer to assist with remote data entry of Hurricane Harvey damage assessment reports – a great way for those living outside of Texas to offer much needed assistance. To volunteer, email either a Dropbox username or an email address that can accept larger files to Dawn Neil, president of the New Jersey Association of Technical Assistants, at [email protected]. If you are with Arizona Building Officials Permit Techs, please copy [email protected] on the email.
