History is filled with those who aren’t afraid to innovate themselves. All of us are constantly evolving but it is a conscious decision to go from one level to another that really helps people achieve success. Whether it's in our career, personal lives, or physical fitness, we have to move forward in order to stay motivated and competitive. Take, for example, the late Arnold Palmer. When you read this, it’ll have been a few weeks since his passing. I heard the news last night as I write to you. Palmer was never afraid to push the boundaries and strive for ultimate success. With 48 consecutive Master’s appearances and four victories, he pushed the mental and physical boundaries to be the best (and one of the most famous) people in the world.
Our cover story this month is a little bit different from golf in terms of activity, but no different in terms of innovation. United Pipe & Steel is and has been innovating their company for several years. They shared some of these insights with me when I visited their Ipswich, Mass. headquarters last month. The company is setting the tone for the rest of the industry with their technological, fleet, geographic, and personnel innovation. This story will invigorate and inspire to look at your life or business and decide what needs innovation.
I hope this month’s story will inspire you to find innovation the way it has done for me. Other innovators in this issue include our fabulous columnists and editorial. I'd like to leave you with a quote by Palmer that I think sums up the spirit of innovation quite well, “The most rewarding things you do in life are often the ones that look like they cannot be done.”
