ClimateMaster, a leading manufacturer of geothermal and water-source heat pump systems, is helping transform one of the nation’s largest military housing energy modernization projects through its geothermal technology at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

The $63 million infrastructure investment, led by Corvias in partnership with Ameresco, is upgrading more than 1,700 military family homes with high-efficiency ClimateMaster geothermal heating and cooling systems, smart thermostats, new hot water systems and advanced controls. The modernization project is expected to reduce annual energy consumption across the housing community by approximately 57%, generating more than $5 million in annual energy savings.

The Fort Sill project marks the third military installation where Ameresco and Corvias have partnered with ClimateMaster to deploy geothermal technology as part of large-scale residential energy modernization efforts, demonstrating the continued value of energy-efficient HVAC solutions in support of improving comfort, reliability and long-term sustainability for military families within their housing.

As part of the project’s showcase event, Army leadership, congressional representatives and industry partners toured ClimateMaster’s Oklahoma City manufacturing facility, where the geothermal heat pumps installed at Fort Sill are manufactured. Attendees then traveled to Fort Sill to observe the drilling process and visit a renovated military home featuring the newly installed systems and advanced controls.

ClimateMaster’s geothermal heat pumps harness the Earth’s stable underground temperatures to efficiently heat and cool buildings, reducing energy consumption by 40% to 70% compared to conventional HVAC systems while delivering dependable year-round comfort and lower maintenance requirements.

The Fort Sill modernization is being delivered through an Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC), allowing infrastructure improvements to be financed through future energy savings rather than upfront capital expenditures. As military installations continue to prioritize energy resilience and modernization, projects like Fort Sill demonstrate how proven geothermal technology can help improve quality of life for military families while supporting long-term operational and sustainability goals.
