Florida Contractor Repipes 78-year-old’s Home for Helping Hands for the Holidays Program

Four Phillips plumbers spent the day providing all new water pipe, new water heater, sink and shower, among other repairs.

This is the first year Phillips Plumbing Co., Eagle Lake, Fla., took part in the Helping Hands for the Holidays program, but the company picked a big job: a full repipe for Billie Sue Ewing, 78, of Winter Haven, Fla.

Four Phillips plumbers spent the day providing all new water pipe, new water heater, sink and shower, among other repairs.

Ewing was chosen from among 35 applicants. Ewing’s water heater was at least 20 years old, and she was using a 5-gallon bucket to catch leaking water from the kitchen sink. According to plumber Jorge Padilla, the piping in her 894 sq. ft. home had never been installed correctly.
