ASHRAE has announced a call for abstracts for its International Building Decarbonization 2022 Conference to be held in Athens, Greece, Oct. 6-7, 2022. The conference is organized by the ASHRAE Task Force for Building Decarbonization in collaboration with ASHRAE’s Hellenic Chapter.
Engineers, architects, academic scholars and interested professional will explore the effects of building design, while sharing resources to advance innovation and developing solutions for reducing carbon emissions and climate impacts.
“The conference intends to be an information and idea exchange, between stakeholders in the built environment industry, concerning the timely and important topic of reducing carbon emissions from buildings,” said Dimitris Charalambopoulos, conference chair.
A primary goal of the conference is to bridge North America and Europe collaboration in decarbonization efforts and present tangible approaches to flexibility in buildings.
The call for abstracts includes papers and presentations (non-paper-based submissions). Suggested topics include the following:
Additional topics include building decarbonization case studies, standardization, certification, and continuing education. Special sessions will highlight indoor environmental quality (IEQ) and epidemic requirements, resiliency and the effects of lighting in the decarbonization process.
Abstracts for papers and presentations (400 words or less) should concisely present the problem statement, the novelty of the work, the methodology, the impact and applicability in building decarbonization. Abstract submissions are due April 4, 2022. If accepted, final conference papers (up to 8 pages) are due June 6, 2022.
