Tyco releases GRINNELL Mechanical Suite for Revit

Tyco Mechanical Products has announced the release of its new GRINNELL Mechanical Suite for Revit, an add-on to the standard AutoDesk Revit software.

The GRINNELL Mechanical Suite for Revit treats pipe like pipe, accurately drawing grooved piping systems while using GRINNELL grooved products, something standard AutoDesk Revit software doesn’t include. Robust tool sets increase productivity as users can perform key pipe design functions within a virtual, smart model.

Users can design grooved piping systems with these GRINNELL Mechanical Suite for Revit features:

Load Grinnell Pipe Types, Valves and Accessories: Quickly select and load any GRINNELL product from the U.S. or EMEA catalogs into a project. With one click, you can create a pipe type family with GRINNELL grooved products. Users can select from various pipe standards and coupling types for a more realistic design and a more accurate bill of materials (BOM). The software can provide precise LOD 500 fabrication level content with couplings gapped for particular/specified pipe lengths.

Fitting and Piping Tools:

  • Insert Coupling: Quickly change coupling types as needed and insert between two selected fittings.
  • Rotate On Pipe: Easily rotate families at any degree using a selected pipe as the rotation axis.
  • Mechanical Tee: With mechanical tees, attach a branch line to a main without breaking the pipe.
  • Arm Over: Easily route over obstacles by selecting a pipe and a location for the branch to tee up and elbow off the selected pipe.
  • Fitting to Fitting: Remove a piece of selected pipe between two fittings and connect the two fittings.
  • Split Pipe: Split pipe and insert couplings between specified pipe lengths.

Schedules: With schedules for both pipe fittings and pipe valves/accessories that list all GRINNELL products, you can ensure accurate BOM while saving both time and cost.

Not only can the improve the effectiveness and efficiency of AutoDesk Revit when designing grooved piping systems, but the software’s forward compatibility can support updates as future versions become available.
