ASPE Boston Chapter Announces Biennial Product Show and Education Seminars

The ASPE Boston chapter will host its Biennial Product Show and Education Seminars on Nov. 12 at The Lantana in Randolph, Massachusetts. The event is open to engineers, designers, architects, facility managers and specifiers.

ASPE Boston requires online registration for all events. The Product Show Floor is open for attendees from 12-7 p.m. Food and drink stations will be located throughout the Product Show floor. The event is free but requires registration and a badge to enter the Show Floor. ASPE Boston encourage all seminar attendees to walk the Show Floor. A list of the various education tracks, times and fees (if applicable) are below.

All Day Seminar (7:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.):

Building Systems Pumping Equipment Workshop (0.1 CEU Credit) | Tuition: $75 (Lunch and Refreshments included) | Presenter: David Pellegrini, Thomas Quinn and Louis Caraglia - Gustavo Preston

This full-day pump systems seminar will highlight fire pumps, domestic water booster pumps, sump pumps, ejector pumps and the systems that run them. This seminar will cover all the pump functions, as well as how to properly specify a pump for a given system. The presenters will educate the attendees on pump installation and how to properly size and design the system.

1 Hour Seminars (11 a.m. – 12 p.m.) | Select one of the following two seminars:

Domestic Hot Water Recirculation Systems Design (0.1 CEU Credit) | Cost: Free | Presenter: Thomas Ruggierio - ThermOmegaTech Inc. 

The presenter will cover the self balancing valves and problems with the elements of a recirculating domestic hot water system.

1. Introduction of applicable code, Legionella concerns, design consideration, balancing "Why" methods

Copper – The Most Versatile Piping Material (0.1 CEU Credit) | Cost: Free | Presenters: Dale Powell - Copper Development Association Inc.

This presentation will provide data supporting the myriad of joining methods available when designing or specifying copper and copper alloy piping systems demonstrating how copper tube and fittings can handle much higher pressures than the competition.

This presentation will focus on the engineer’s specification and how to get contractors, wholesalers and owners and other manufacturers’ representatives to respect them.

Rain Water Harvesting (0.1 CEU Credit) | Cost: Free | Presenter: George (Eddie) Van Giesen - WATTS Company

Planning and executing commercial rainwater harvesting systems in commercial buildings based on scale-driven designs. At the end of the session the attendee will be able to do the following: Describe the major system types and to what types of buildings they best fit, identify the critical components associated with each major type, discuss how inlet water velocities affect the functioning and effectiveness of the inlet pre-filter, and illustrate the optimal locations for best practices in terms of installation in a commercial building.

1 Hour Seminars (3 – 4 p.m.) Plumbing Code Update (0.1 CEU Credit) | Cost: Free

Presenter: Larry Lemieux – Executive Director to the Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters

Preparing notations of all the Plumbing changes and amendments which have been enacted by the Plumbing Board. Mr. Joseph McNamee, Chairman of the Plumbing Board will be in attendance to answer any and all questions pertaining to the MA Fuel Gas & Plumbing Code.
