Richard Krauter, with Jay R. Smith for Nearly Six Decades, Dies at 77

Richard Krauter, longtime employee of Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co. passed away Jan. 12, at the age of 77.

Krauter was born on Oct. 3, 1940, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He worked for Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co. for nearly 59 years, advancing from the manufacturing plant to regional manager. Krauter's principles and his punctuality were legendary: He was described as always early, always ready, always there.

Steve Chromey, executive vice president at Smith, said it best: "Richie led by example. He worked hard. Was honest. Loved our company and was a great husband, father, grandfather and just a good man!"

Krauter is survived by his wife, Arlene (Cavuto) Krauter; daughters Denise Krauter and Kim Krauter; son Rich Krauter and his wife, Juliana Malinverni.; stepson Shawn Phillips and his wife; sister Helen Opalka and her husband, John; four cherished grandchildren, Evelyn and Emily Krauter, and Chase and Logan Phillips; brothers-in-law Neil Cavuto and his wife, Mary, and Ron Cavuto; niece Tara Cavuto, and nephews Jeremy and Bradley Cavuto.
