Ferguson opens its kitchen to pint-sized chefs

Instructors from Spoons Across America, a Manhattan-based nonprofit that teaches children, families and others about the benefits of healthy eating, guided the children through the course.

Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery associates in New Jersey opened up their kitchens to some pint-size chefs as part of Ferguson Future Foodies, a 90-minute cooking class targeted at children between the ages 6 and 12 years old.

Instructors from Spoons Across America, a Manhattan-based nonprofit that teaches children, families and others about the benefits of healthy eating, guided the mini Emeril Lagasses and Rachael Rays through the course. They sampled spices, prepared a pizza and walked away with some cool cooking gear, which included a chef’s hat, apron and recipe cards.

“It’s great to see families spending quality time together in our showrooms,” said David Finkel, director of showrooms/builder sales – NY Metro. “We’ve had some of the children walk up to us after the event and say ‘Ferguson is the best place ever.’ We wanted to give back to our customers and community through these events, and I think we’re achieving that goal.”

In addition to providing lasting memories to local families, Ferguson’s Northeast District is making a donation to Spoons Across America, as well as providing them with all the proceeds from the event.
