Feeding Families Foundation, a Connecticut-based nonprofit working to eliminate food insecurity for parents of hospitalized children, announced today that it has received a $121,500 donation from the Association of Contracting Plumbers City of New York Inc. (ACP) following the organization's annual "Plumbing Industry Day" Charity Golf Outing at Old Westbury Golf & Country Club.

The donation will provide additional resources for Feeding Families Foundation to continue delivering meals to parents and caregivers while exploring opportunities to bring its programs to additional hospitals throughout New York, including New York City and Long Island.

The annual ACP charity outing brought together members of New York's plumbing and contracting industry for a day of golf and fundraising. The event featured a full scramble utilizing the club's three nine-hole courses, followed by a cocktail reception, dinner and charity presentation.

Feeding Families Foundation began in New Haven, Connecticut and has since grown into a nonprofit serving parents and caregivers at children's hospitals in multiple states.

Through its flagship Parent Plate Program, the foundation covers the cost of meals for caregivers and delivers them directly to the hospital room — so parents can stay at their child's bedside without worrying about food or leaving their child alone. There are no applications or eligibility requirements. The Foundation also operates its Local Food Fare Program, which works with local restaurants to provide donated meals to parents and caregivers at participating hospitals.

Vincent Aspromonte Jr., founder and president of Aspro Plumbing Inc. and secretary and member of the executive board of ACP, nominated Feeding Families Foundation as the beneficiary of this year's ACP charity outing. Aspromonte was familiar with the story behind the Foundation, which was created after the founders' daughter was diagnosed with leukemia, and understood its mission to support parents of hospitalized children.

"I knew about Jeff's daughter and what his family went through, and I knew the story behind Feeding Families Foundation. What moved me was seeing them take something so difficult and turn it into something positive that can help other families. I wanted to nominate Feeding Families Foundation because I believe in their mission and what they are doing for parents of hospitalized children. This donation is an opportunity to help them bring that mission to New York and make a real difference for the families and communities that our member companies serve every day," Aspromonte said.

The donation comes as Feeding Families Foundation continues to grow from its beginnings in New Haven and expand its programs to additional children's hospitals. New York City, Long Island and communities throughout New York are areas the Foundation can now look toward as opportunities for future hospital partnerships and program expansion.

For Feeding Families Foundation, the impact of ACP's support will be measured not simply in dollars, but in meals delivered to parents who need them. To date, Feeding Families Foundation has provided tens of thousands of meals to parents and caregivers of hospitalized children through partnerships with children's hospitals and communities around the country.

The goal is simple: feed caregivers, alleviate stress, and allow parents to focus on what matters most—their child.
