Congratulations to Lily Lubs on receiving the Reilly Family Memorial Scholarship at MCAA26 during the Awards of Excellence Breakfast in Phoenix.

The John W. Danforth Company established this $5,000 scholarship to commemorate the memory of its leadership, the Reilly Family. Danforth is a charter member of MCAA. Kevin “Duke” Reilly served as Danforth’s Chairman/CEO. Wayne, Patrick and Emmett Reilly contributed a combined 128 years of commitment and loyalty to their company and the industry. This national scholarship symbolizes the Reillys’ many contributions to the mechanical contracting industry.

Lily anticipates graduating from Alfred State College in May 2027 with a degree in Construction Management. This was her first year in the student chapter. This summer, she is interning with MCAA Member, the John W. Danforth Company as a Project Engineer Intern.

“One part of mechanical construction that I find appealing is its complexity. I have met people who have been in the business for more than 40 years, and they are still learning every day. I like to feel challenged, and I love to learn new things. Recently, I worked on a boiler plant project at a college. Learning about all the different pieces of equipment that go into these boilers was extremely interesting, and I was excited to learn more about them.

"The camaraderie within the mechanical industry is also inspiring. Everyone is so proud of the work they do and is willing to help others. Seeing this side of the industry makes me want to become the best I can be so I can share my knowledge and teach others about the industry where I have found my passion.

"In the short time I’ve been a part of the MCAA student chapter, it has already opened up many new opportunities. I was able to attend the GreatFutures Forum and MCAA Convention, where I learned so much not only about mechanical systems, but also about the importance of relationships in this industry. I met so many new people who share my interests.”
