The American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) is pleased to announce five students who have won a scholarship through the association’s online scholarship program for high school seniors, afsascholarship.org. These national winners were randomly selected from nearly 14,000 students who entered to receive a one-time $1,000 AFSA scholarship payable to their respective college, university, or trade school. This online scholarship contest awards five $1,000 prizes annually. The five national winners for 2025-2026 are:
Violeta Dauksa, Scotts Valley, California
Isaac Graham, Carolina, Rhode Island
Asalé Jones, South Euclid, Ohio
Aniah Moldauer, Cincinnati, Ohio
Avery Sullivan, Athens, Ohio
“It’s exciting to see how far this program continues to reach beyond our industry,” said AFSA’s At-Large Director and Chair of its Public Education & Awareness Committee Mindy Buckley, CFO of Allsouth Sprinkler in Buford, Georgia. “With almost 15,000 high school seniors participating this year, we’re not only helping them take the next step in their education, but we’re also introducing thousands of young people to the importance of fire sprinklers and the opportunities in our industry. This kind of reach is exactly how we continue to grow awareness and make an impact with the next generation.”
To be eligible, applicants must be a current high school senior planning to attend an accredited U.S. college, university, or trade school in the coming fall. Applicants are required to read a passage about fire sprinklers — which describes their history, how they operate to save lives and property, and the types of careers that are available in the industry — and take an eight-question reading comprehension test. For each question answered correctly, the student receives one entry into a drawing for one of five $1,000 scholarships. A total of eight entries per applicant into the drawing are possible.
Since its creation in 1996, the AFSA Scholarship Contest has sought to promote the scholarship outside of the fire sprinkler industry in the hope of reaching students who may otherwise never have recognized the importance of automatic fire protection.
AFSA’s scholarship program continues to grow, educating hundreds of thousands of people and awarding over $350,000 through this contest. AFSA scholarships are open to U.S. citizens or legal residents and are not based on financial needs. For details or to apply, visit afsascholarship.org/high-school-contest. The 2026-27 contest will open on Sept. 1, 2026.
