Duravit USA Inc. proudly introduces Balcoon, a distinctive new bathroom series by Patricia Urquiola, the internationally acclaimed architect and industrial product designer. Now available for North America, the collection marks the brand’s first collaboration with Urquiola, signaling a new chapter in its long legacy of iconic design partnerships. Inspired by architectural forms, Balcoon balances a refined, purist aesthetic with a bold design perspective across sinks, furniture and bathtubs. With its blend of premium features and exceptional craftsmanship, Balcoon sets a new benchmark for modern bathroom design, offering attainable luxury at an attractive mid-range price point.

Breaking away from conventional ceramic forms, Urquiola envisioned a dynamic interplay between soft curves and square geometries. These sculptural shapes are complemented by clean lines and a natural, timeless color palette to create layered, inviting compositions. Balcoon also offers two distinct furniture styles for modular storage to suit a variety of spaces, an ideal choice for projects ranging from residential to hospitality.

Sinks with DuraShield

Available in a variety of shapes and three carefully curated finishes – White Gloss, White Satin Matte, and Clay Terra Matte – Balcoon sinks enable a high degree of personalization. The newly introduced Clay Terra Matte stands out with its authentic, handcrafted character, adding depth to the collection. Each piece is finished with the DuraShield glaze, a protective coating infused with positively charged metal ions that creates an invisible barrier proven to eliminate 99.99% of bacteria. This advanced technology combines refined design with enhanced hygiene performance and is backed by a lifetime warranty for complete peace of mind.

Bathroom Furniture

Balcoon bathroom furniture is defined by two distinct design directions and a choice of wooden or mineral consoles. Wooden finishes include Slate Brown, Umbra, Sand Beige, Ivory, and Terraccino, while mineral finishes are available in Lava Structure, Concrete Structure, and Basalt Structure. Finishes range from clean, single-tone surfaces to sophisticated terrazzo styles, with the latter adding texture and a tactile dimension to the space. Select vanity units feature asymmetrical storage layouts, creating subtle visual interest that can be further emphasized through contrasting color combinations. 

Bathtubs

Available in white gloss or white matte finish options, Balcoon’s drop-in bathtubs integrate effortlessly into the overall design language. A gently raised oval rim sits on a seamless acrylic base that extends into the corners, simplifying cleaning while minimizing splashing. This design also provides a practical surface for keeping bath essentials within reach. Inside, the ergonomically contoured shape supports both relaxed bathing and comfortable showering.
