Mueller Associates has released the first episode of its three-part 60th anniversary documentary series, Invisible Excellence: A Mueller Associates Story.

Titled “The Beginning,” the debut episode examines the firm’s founding in 1966 and the evolution of its design philosophy—one centered on delivering highly integrated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP/FP) systems that support building performance, occupant comfort, and long-term operational reliability.

Blending archival imagery and interviews with past and present leadership, the short documentary provides insight into the often unseen engineering systems that underpin complex institutional environments, including higher-education facilities, performing-arts venues, museums, and research spaces.

Over the past six decades, Mueller Associates has delivered engineering solutions for a wide range of technically demanding projects. These include the design and installation of solar thermal systems at the White House, as well as work for institutions with stringent environmental, acoustical, and operational requirements such as the Washington National Cathedral, the Smithsonian Institution, the Lyric Baltimore, and the Baltimore Museum of Art.

The firm’s portfolio reflects a consistent focus on system integration, energy performance, and coordination with architectural partners to meet the specialized demands of each project type, from precise climate control for collections environments to acoustically sensitive HVAC design for performance spaces.

“For 60 years, Mueller has focused on the idea that engineering should serve people first — supporting the mission of the institutions we partner with and enhancing the human experience within the built environment,” said Robert Marino, PE, LEED AP, chairman of the board.

“This series is an opportunity to reflect on where we’ve been, but more importantly, to reinforce the values —technical excellence, collaboration, and stewardship—that continue to guide our work today,” said Todd Garing, PE, LEED AP BD+C, president of Mueller Associates.

The documentary series also reinforces Mueller Associates’ long-standing commitment to delivering technically rigorous, sustainable engineering solutions that align with client mission, operational goals, and evolving performance standards across the built environment.

Episode 1 was released publicly on March 23, with two additional episodes scheduled for release later this year. The video is available on Mueller Associates’ website and social media platforms.
