The Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI) hosted members in San Antonio, Texas earlier this week for the 2026 Steel Conference and Annual Meeting of Members. Global shifts in the metals industry, navigating global trade and U.S.-China relations, and a stainless steel and tool steel global end-use market update were among the many topics discussed during the conference, which was co-located with the Steel Manufacturers Association’s annual meeting.

Chicago Tube & Iron Company Executive Chairman Donald R. McNeeley, Ph.D., received MSCI’s Lifetime Achievement Award during the Annual Meeting of Members on March 17, followed by the Jack Malec Chapter Leadership Award, presented to MSCI’s Michigan Chapter President Andy Baszczuk of Griggs Steel.

“Progress in our industry is never the work of one individual, but the result of many who step forward in service to something greater than themselves,” said MSCI President and CEO M. Robert Weidner, III. “Andy Baszczuk and Don McNeeley have embodied the true spirit of servant leadership, offering their insight, time, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of MSCI and the industry.”MSCI welcome a new member of the Board of Directors, Neil Sherman, CEO of Industrial Metal Supply Co., and honored three retiring directors:

·      Valley Iron President and CEO Noel Briscoe;

·      Goldin Metals, Inc. CEO Alan Goldin; and

·      Nucor Corporation Executive Vice President Dan Needham.

In addition to their service on MSCI’s Board of Directors, Briscoe and Goldin were members of the Governance Committee, and Needham served on the Finance Committee.

“We extend our sincere thanks to the retiring Board members for their dedication and service to MSCI,” said MSCI Chairman and Kloeckner Metals Corporation CEO John Ganem. “As we look to 2026, we are committed to expanding opportunities for engagement, strengthening programs, and ensuring MSCI continues to serve as a trusted resource for the industrial metals industry.”
