Ancora Education, a workforce training and solutions provider, announced that Miller-Motte College (MMC) will launch a new plumbing program at its Raleigh campus on Feb. 9, 2026, expanding its skilled trades offerings in North Carolina.
The Raleigh program is the third plumbing program Ancora has introduced in the state, following successful launches earlier this year at Miller-Motte campuses in Jacksonville and Fayetteville.
“With the general shortage of skilled workers in America, the need for plumbing helpers is expected to grow five to six percent nationally over the next decade,” said Molly Carney, president of Miller-Motte College Raleigh. “Our students receive the gear and tools they will use in the field, along with hands-on training from instructors who work or have worked in the industry. We also maintain partnerships with employers to help students and graduates find steady employment and launch their careers.”
The 10-month plumbing curriculum is developed by plumbing subject matter experts for the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).
Coursework includes the following:
Basic craft skills, tools, materials and methods
Introduction to plumbing
Piping and valves
Installation and testing
Sizing, venting and storm systems
Service plumbing and sump pumps
Hydronic and solar heating, plumbing codes
Private water and waste systems, pools, hot tubs and mobile homes
“Introducing new programs allows us to offer more practical training opportunities for students and more solutions for our community,” said Rogelio Medina, vice president of operations at Ancora Education, who oversees the Miller-Motte College brand. “We’re proud to continue building programs that align with local workforce needs and give graduates a competitive edge.”
With the expansion of its skilled trades programs, Miller-Motte College and Ancora Education reaffirm their commitment to strengthening North Carolina’s workforce through hands-on, career-focused training.
