ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) has published evaluation report ESR-5669 for NanoNest structural components. The report covers factory-assembled modules with structural steel members, evaluated in accordance with AC543 – Acceptance Criteria for Structural Performance of Modular Components for Off-Site Construction. Used in NanoNest’s modular tiny home designs, these components have been verified to comply with applicable building code requirements, assuring regulators, manufacturers, and communities that the components meet rigorous safety standards, an essential step in bringing innovative, affordable housing solutions to market.
NanoNest is a manufacturer of modular, prefabricated housing solutions, known for rapid deployment, community-centered design, and sustainability. The company has drawn attention for its role in disaster recovery efforts, including the successful delivery of more than 300 modular housing units in Lahaina, Maui, following the wildfires. With ICC-ES evaluation of its components, NanoNest’s housing solutions demonstrate that innovation can align with rigorous safety and compliance standards.
“Fast, affordable housing is only part of the solution,” said Forrest Dell, CEO, NanoNest. “It’s equally important that the materials and components we use meet rigorous safety standards. ICC-ES evaluations give our partners and the communities we serve confidence that our designs are backed by trusted third-party verification.”
ICC-ES emphasized the broader market impact of evaluation reports. “Independent evaluations provide evidence that innovative products and systems comply with building codes,” said Vincent Chui, Vice President of Evaluation Services, ICC-ES. “For companies like NanoNest, this not only strengthens market confidence but also enables faster adoption of solutions that serve communities in need.”
With comprehensive evaluation reports, ICC-ES helps manufacturers demonstrate code compliance, gives building officials confidence in approvals, and ensures that innovative construction products are introduced to the market safely and efficiently.
