Aging plumbing, heating systems keep dorm rooms off the campus tour

July 29, 2015

Low water pressure, at least when the plumbing is working, or no air conditioning or heat with apparently  one setting – “hot,” greet freshmen at dorm rooms that look no different from when their parents attended.

One student at the University of South Florida reports that the showers are so small she has trouble raising her arms above her head to lather her hair, and has water temperatures that veer from freezing to scalding. Plus, the 60s-era soap holders are an exact match for her grandmother’s.

The New York Times compiled a list of dorms around the country that are definitely kept off the college tour.

More details here.
