The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) has made the 2025 Water Efficiency and Sanitation Standard (WE•Stand) Technical Committee Meeting monograph available for download.

All individuals anticipating an active role in the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-accredited consensus development of the WE•Stand at the Technical Committee Meetings June 19-20 in Ontario, Calif., will want to download these documents in Adobe PDF format at https://codes.iapmo.org/docs/2027/WESTAND/2025_WEStand_TC_Meeting_Monograph.pdf.

Hardcopy versions will not be available at the meetings.

The Technical Committee Meeting monograph contains every change proposal submitted for the 2027 edition of the WE•Stand as part of the ANSI-accredited consensus code development process employed by IAPMO.

Topic areas for proposed changes to the WE•Stand include: Listing requirements and maximum water consumption rates for plumbing fixtures and fixture fittings; leak detection, monitoring, and control devices; listing and installation requirements for water treatment devices and systems including ozone systems, UV disinfection, reverse osmosis and nanofiltration equipment, Legionella treatment devices, and drinking water treatment units; requirements for monitoring water consumption and efficient water use in data centers; estimating the supply demand load for commercial buildings using the Water Demand Calculator; design and installation requirements for site-built composting toilet and urine diversion systems; design requirements for untreated gray water systems; allowable uses of treated water from onsite treatment systems; design and installation requirements for engineered onsite treatment systems; Log Reduction Targets (LRT) and monitoring of onsite treatment systems; minimum water quality of harvested rainwater; rainwater storage tanks supplying water for fire protection systems; and professional qualifications for installers and inspectors.

IAPMO urges its members and other interested parties to get involved in the code development process to ensure effectiveness in preserving the public’s health, safety, and welfare through fair and balanced development of the WE•Stand. Installers, plumbing officials, the construction industry, engineers, and manufacturers all benefit from a cooperative effort in developing codes and standards.

For specific information about the WE•Stand Technical Committee, please contact Taylor Duran at (909) 218-8126 or e-mail your question to [email protected].
