Johnson Controls has announced the launch of the YORK YK-CP Centrifugal Chiller designed to deliver high-efficiency performance, meet stringent sustainability standards and aid in the decarbonization of large commercial buildings. Available in 2,000 to 3,000 tons, it is optimized specifically for the use of the ultra-low GWP refrigerant R-1234ze(E) without requiring a larger chiller footprint or sacrificing on efficiency. It can be equipped with an optional variable-speed drive for optimal utilization at both full and part loads, as well as under design and off-design conditions at varying ambient temperatures, resulting in operation up to 30% more energy-efficient than conventional chillers. That additional efficiency can be equivalent to cutting CO2 emissions by over 500 metric tons or removing over 100 passenger vehicles from the road each year.
