The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) announces the release of "NSI Standard 310 Workflow & Field Measurement Overview" video explaining application guidelines of ANSI/RESNET/ACCA/ICC Standard 310 for contractors.
Standard 310 establishes the methodology to collect data that is factored into lowering the energy rating index (ERI) score. Closely following Standard 310 will result in alignment with a lower ERI score.Standard 310 outlines five separate tasks that can be performed by an HVAC professional and further provided to a Rater. These tasks collect data that will be used to evaluate the HVAC system's installation and performance. HVAC professionals would use the Independent Verification Report process outlined in the standard. How to apply each step of the Standard 310 process is highlighted in the newly released video.
Homebuilders who can demonstrate they have a quality system installation can earn lower ERI scores that help them qualify to earn the 45L tax credits. These incentives can earn the Homebuilder a $2,000 tax credit. This is the first potential financial incentive for home builders to hire HVAC professionals who deliver quality installations. Using Standard 310's Independent Verification Report, HVAC professionals can provide home owners with verification of a quality installation.
"ACCA strongly supports the introduction of Standard 310 into the HVAC industry," said Wes Davis, ACCA's director of technical services. "Following this Standard will be a game changer in proving the importance of a quality installation, while also providing customers with the proof they need to ensure their system was installed properly. With the release of the Standard 310 video, we expect Contractors to smoothly transition into the new installation standard practices."
The ANSI/RESNET/ACCA/ICC 310-2020 publication is available for purchase through the Code Council store.
