Strikepoint Group Holdings Launches Technician Training Program to Address Skilled Worker Shortage

Strikepoint Group Holdings Launches Technician Training Program to Address Skilled Worker Shortage

Strikepoint Group Holdings (SGH), one of the largest and most referred home services companies in the United States, has launched Horizon Group Holdings (HGH) Technical Training Center, a technical training facility and program designed to infuse a new class of skilled trade workers into the residential HVAC, plumbing, heating and related industries. SGH, formerly Horizon Group Holdings, operates the approximately 3000-square-foot hands-on educational facility in Broomall, Pennsylvania.

In an effort to address the skilled worker shortage that persists locally and nationwide, the program caters to students looking to enter or re-enter the skilled trades workforce. The unique program focuses on providing technical training and home service-related soft skills practice and expects to train and graduate over 100 technicians each year.

"We are creating awareness that with hard work and a willingness to learn and grow, opportunities in the skilled trades can lead to a fulfilling career with job security, financial stability and flexibility," said Charlie Haines, CEO of Horizon Group Holdings. "The earning potential for skilled trade workers in today's market can be significant."

According to Haines, the instructional staff is comprised of highly knowledgeable and trained professionals with years of experience and credible certifications in the plumbing, electrical, HVAC, engineering, and teaching fields. Using a hands-on approach to learning that provides students with a competitive advantage, the HGH Technical Training Center incorporates an inclusive set of instruction skill sets.

"We are giving students the opportunity to perform the tasks and skills required to be a trained technician upon graduation — an approach that reinforces the HGH commitment to quality," Haines added.

The facility includes a variety of hands-on working equipment found in the average home, such as furnaces, air conditioning units, hot water heaters, bathroom tubs, toilets, sinks, and more. As the program adapts and grows based on the needs of the skilled labor and trade environment. It recently celebrated its first group of graduates in April 2022. The facility will be open year-round.
