Comfort Ready Home Gives Cash to Contractors

Now through April 30, 2022, the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) Comfort Ready Home program will give an additional $500 in cash to Pacific Northwest contractors every time they install qualifying heat pump water heaters through the Greener Water Heater promotion.

Heat pump water heaters use a fraction of the energy used by standard water heaters and are a simple way homeowners can achieve substantial energy savings.

BPA's Comfort Ready Home program provides tools to help utilities increase customer participation and uptake in weatherization and energy-efficiency upgrades installed in homes across the region. Comfort Ready Home also provides marketing tools to contractors, and connects them with homeowners who want to make energy-saving improvements. In addition, homeowners looking for qualified contractors can use the Comfort Ready Home searchable contractor database.

To participate in the Greener Water Heater promotion, the following stipulations must be met:

  • Contractors must be licensed in their state.
  • Contractors must be enrolled in the Comfort Ready Home Residential Contractor Network.
  • The heat pump water heater must be on the BPA Qualified Products List and installed in a single-family or manufactured home located in a participating utility’s territory.

Multifamily, new construction, commercial installations, self-installs and split systems do not qualify for this promotion. Contractors who qualify for the promotion and report their installations to Comfort Ready Home will receive an electronic Visa gift card. Contractors will also receive a heat pump water heater-specific marketing toolkit and virtual training from a Comfort Ready Home outreach specialist. Learn more about the program here.

BPA will continue to expand the Comfort Ready Home program over the next year. Future plans include introducing features such as webinars, workshops, DIY resources and more.
