National Technical Institute (NTI), a state-approved trade school, has begun accepting applications for its HVAC, plumbing and electrical programs at its new Reno-Sparks campus to help close the skilled workforce shortage. These hands-on learning programs offer real-world experience to prepare students for careers in growing industries. Seats are limited for the first class, which starts Nov. 30.

Reno Program Details

NTI’s HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical certification programs span from 12 to 16 weeks, creating a fast-track pace so students can quickly launch their new careers. The HVAC technician program covers air conditioning, heating and cooling, refrigeration systems, ventilation and system diagnostics. The Plumbing Technician training program guides students through commercial and residential repairs, plumbing installation and maintenance. NTI's Electrical program covers three-phase power setups, electrical diagrams and industry-standard training units. Together, these programs give students real-world, immersive learning that prepares them for the job site from day one.

NTI's industry partnerships connect graduates with hiring employers upon program completion. In addition, the new 8,000 sq. ft. Reno-Sparks campus will be located at The Oddie District 2450 Oddie Blvd, Sparks, NV 89431, which features diverse businesses.

"Reno's trades industry is growing fast, and NTI is here to meet that demand," said Ryan Woodward, CEO at NTI. "Our graduates leave equipped with the real-world skills and training to make an immediate impact in their communities and build meaningful careers."

Why This Matters to Reno

Nevada is one of the states that has experienced the most growth in the skilled trades, (34.6%) over the past decade. NTI's Reno-Sparks campus will help continue the boom of skilled labor in Nevada by putting students on a direct path.

"Establishing strong programs in Reno-Sparks creates a strong pipeline for students who want to learn skills that are needed in a successful career," said Skylar Faulkner, admissions director at NTI Reno-Sparks. "At NTI, instructors are professionals and provide students with the hands-on skills and confidence they need to accelerate professionally.”

NTI offers certification programs through in-person and hybrid learning, with new classes starting every month, and pairs each graduate with a personal Career Services Advisor who connects them to local hiring partners. To accommodate students who are currently working, classes run throughout the day and evening, with morning and Saturday classes offered at this campus starting in 2027. Financing is available to those who qualify. To apply to NTI, visit https://www.ntitraining.com/apply-today/.
