Helena Dumont has acquired Specialty Metal Products — doing business as SMP Supply — a Houston, Texas-based distributor of pipe, valves, fittings, and flanges, with the transaction closing on Oct. 19, 2026.
Founded in 1987, SMP Supply provides commodity and specialty PVF products and valve assembly services to industrial and energy customers. The company has built its reputation by combining product knowledge, creative thinking, and a commitment to serving customers before, during, and after the sale.
“SMP Supply has spent nearly four decades earning the trust of its customers,” said Adam Britt, president and CEO of Helena Dumont. “I spent much of my career in PVF distribution, and I know SMP Supply and the markets it serves. Our role is to support the team that built this business, invest in its people and its community, and provide the capital and operating resources it needs to grow over the long term.”
SMP Supply will continue operating under its current name from its Houston headquarters, with its employees remaining in their current roles. The company’s founders will transition out of the business following the closing. Adam Britt, serving as interim CEO, together with Michelle Russell and Keith Thomas, will lead SMP Supply’s day-to-day operations, supported by the Helena Dumont team.
“Our customers will see the same people, the same inventory, and the same service they have relied on since 1987,” said Michelle Russell, president of SMP Supply. “Helena Dumont brings operating experience in our industry and a long-term view of the business. That combination gives our team the backing to keep doing what we do well and to grow with our customers.”
