The Granite Group, a leading distributor of plumbing, heating, cooling, piping, water systems, and energy products, today announced its expansion across the Northeast through two acquisitions and a new branch in Caribou, Maine. These milestones mark the company’s entry into New York and further strengthen its footprint across Maine.

“This is an exciting time for The Granite Group,” said Bill Condron, CEO of The Granite Group. “Our growth is driven by great people and strong local businesses that share our commitment to customers. Whether through acquisitions or new branches, we’re focused on building on that foundation and bringing even greater value to the markets we serve.”

P&E Supply Joins The Granite Group

The Granite Group has acquired P&E Supply, a Sanford, Maine-based distributor founded in 1982 by Master Plumber Harry Kenney. Built on a reputation for expanding access to plumbing supplies, hard-to-find products, hands-on expertise, and community involvement, P&E has long been a trusted resource for contractors and homeowners in the region, including through its kitchen and bath showroom.

For the past couple of decades, the business has been led by Paul Kenney and his wife Debbie, who continued to build on that foundation. “We’re proud of what we’ve built at P&E and the relationships we’ve developed over the years,” said Paul Kenney. “Joining The Granite Group allows us to continue that legacy while giving our customers access to greater resources, broader inventory, and new capabilities. It’s the right next step for our team, creating new opportunities for growth and development while continuing to serve the community we care about.”

Expanding into New York with Hynes Plumbing Supply

The Granite Group has entered New York State with the acquisition of Hynes Plumbing Supply in Plattsburgh, marking a significant geographic expansion for the company.

Owner John Hynes launched Hynes Plumbing Supply four years ago next to his family’s electrical supply company, which has been in operation since 1955. The building has housed plumbing, heating, and cooling distribution businesses under various ownership for more than 20 years. Hynes reestablished the plumbing business under his family name and built a strong local presence.

“As our business grew, it became clear there was an opportunity to do more for our customers,” said John Hynes. “The Granite Group brings the scale, resources, and shared values to help us take that next step for customers.”

The partnership enhances the operation with expanded inventory and e-commerce capabilities, while also creating a one-stop destination for contractors by combining Hynes’ family electrical supply business with The Granite Group’s plumbing, heating, and cooling offering under one roof.

New Branch Coming to Caribou, Maine

The Granite Group is also expanding into Caribou, Maine, one of the most northeastern cities in the United States, located near the Canadian border. The new branch will establish the company’s presence in Caribou, a community focused on downtown revitalization and infrastructure improvements. The location will open in June to support local contractors and the surrounding community.
