As the Huntsville community steps into a bright new year, two North Alabama companies have joined together to spotlight the power of compassion, partnership, and supporting the needs of their community. Alabama-based Park Supply & Plumbers Wholesale Supply, in partnership with another Alabama-based plumbing supplier - Reliance Worldwide Corporation (RWC), is proud to support Magic Moments, a nonprofit dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences for Alabama children facing serious health challenges.

This story centers on Sophia Wilshusen, a 17-year-old from Owens Crossroads, Alabama. 

Sophia’s Story

When Sophia was born, she faced numerous early challenges, including difficulty swallowing, developmental delays, and visible physical differences. Sophia was diagnosed with CMTC (Cutis Marmorata Telangiectatica Congenita), an extremely rare neurological disorder affecting brain development and growth, then later with M-CAP (megalencephaly capillary polymicrogyria syndrome), also an extremely rare condition. Today, Sophia is under the care of approximately 20 specialists across four children’s hospitals nationwide.

Despite these challenges, Sophia is warm, compassionate, and deeply loving. She has endured bullying and social struggles, yet her joy, empathy, and desire for connection remain strong. Her greatest wish has always been simple: to belong, to feel included, and to experience pure happiness.

Through Park Supply and RWC’s support of Magic Moments, Sophia will experience her long-held dream of visiting Disney World. On December 30, at the Huntsville Havoc game (center ice), Sophia will be presented with her magical moment.

A Community-Focused Partnership

Through their partnership, Park Supply and Reliance Worldwide Corp., two local companies with deep roots in North Alabama, have united to support Magic Moments and help make Sophia’s dream become a reality. Their collaboration exemplifies how local businesses can extend their impact beyond plumbing products and services to create meaningful change in the lives of families right here at home.

This year also marks a milestone for Magic Moments as the organization celebrates its 20th anniversary.
