Sewage floods Montreal hospital’s birthing center

August 31, 2015
No Comments
Following a flood recently in one of the hallways of the MUHC Glenn site, housekeeping staff threw hospital bed pads on the floor to absorb some of the sewer water.

The Montreal Gazette reports in its Aug. 28 issue that two days after officials declared the drainage problems at the new Montreal Children’s Hospital were “largely under control,” drains backed up in the birthing center early Friday morning, flooding the clinical area with “diarrhea-like” sewage water.

The extent of the drainage blockage appears to be far worse than has been previously acknowledged either by SNC-Lavalin or the McGill University Health Centre as the flooding is widespread throughout the MUHC superhospital, occurring on an almost daily basis.
