Marcone has announced hat it has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for its dedication and achievements under the WaterSense program, a green initiative backed by the company in its role as one of North America's largest distributors of appliance, HVAC, plumbing, commercial kitchen, and pool/spa equipment, products repair parts and solutions.
Lavatory faucets sold by Speakman in 2023 saved over 32.7 million gallons of water per 1,000 minutes of use, while each Speakman showerhead sold in 2023 saved approximately 316 million gallons of water. Those results reflect Marcone's dual commitment to design that maintains the feeling of quality water flow and keeping usage low.
"Our design teams focus heavily on making sure the user experience is magnified while environmental concerns are being addressed," said Tim Shearer, president of Marcone Plumbing. "This recognition by WaterSense reinforces our commitment to doing the right thing for both our customers and our planet. We are proud to be making such a significant difference as a steward of the Earth's resources so that it will be positioned to benefit water users for generations to come."
Since 2006, WaterSense has saved 7.5 trillion gallons of water through the efforts of companies such as Speakman. That water savings equals nearly 577 billion loads of laundry.
A voluntary program by the U.S. EPA, WaterSense recognizes that water is a finite resource as U.S. water managers anticipate water shortages in the coming years. Because household bathrooms use more than 50 percent of all indoor water, the work by companies such as Speakman to limit water use through specially crafted faucets and showerheads is integral to environmental efforts.
