Zurn Elkay Water Solutions has announced it is the official Water Solutions Sponsor for University of Southern California (USC) athletics. As the USC Trojans Water Solutions Sponsor, Zurn Elkay will be bringing cleaner water to students, fans, visitors, and faculty, as well as supporting the university’s overall sustainability efforts.
“With water being such a vital resource here in California, Zurn Elkay is the ideal partner for our sustainable initiatives”, said Drew DeHart, vice president/general manager, USC Sports Properties and Playfly Sports. “With the help of Zurn Elkay, USC Athletics will continue to expand upon Zero Waste efforts in educating USC fans and effect positive change for our environment.”
One way that the University of Southern California is working toward its sustainability goals is through the elimination of single-use plastics on campus. As of July 2022, USC removed all sales of plastic bottles on campus and replaced them with glass bottles, aluminum cans, and filtered water bottle filling stations.
The university has made significant strides in campus sustainability. In 2022, USC earned a Silver Rating for participation in the Advancement of Sustainability and launched Assignment: Earth – a framework for reaching goals such as climate neutrality by 2025 and zero waste by 2028.
Named one of America’s Most Responsible Companies for three consecutive years, Zurn Elkay products help to protect and conserve water, eliminate single-use plastics, and reduce energy consumption, as well as help mitigate the impact of climate change. Its Elkay-filtered bottle-filling stations have eliminated the use of 67 billion single-use plastic water bottles since 2012. With just one Elkay ezH2O filtered bottle filling station, 15,000 plastic bottles are saved from entering landfills and waterways each year. In addition, Zurn Elkay embeds Environmental, Social, and Governance into every aspect of its business. Its operations are organized around five pillars of sustainability: environment, health and safety, people, communities and governance, and ethics. Zurn Elkay sets external targets to track progress on areas ranging from energy and water reduction, to increased supplier diversity, to maintaining world-class safety levels in our plants.
“Sustainability is a way of life for students and staff, and colleges and universities are making it a priority on campus,” said Molly O Pajauskas, vice president of marketing for Zurn Elkay. “USC has been at the forefront of those efforts. As their Official Water Solutions Sponsor, we can’t wait to continue to support USC and its sustainability initiatives, as well as ensuring that students and faculty have access to cleaner water on campus.”
Zurn Elkay is excited to join the USC Trojan family at their 2023 ‘Zero Waste Game’ this fall. With a space in the game’s Fan Fest, Zurn Elkay will be supporting USC’s initiatives toward sustainability and showcasing the business’s commitment toward cleaner water solutions.
