Chinese court says Trump is famous enough now to put an end to ‘Trump Toilet’?

February 15, 2017
The makers of the Trump-branded toilets say they intend to fight back to retain the name.

President Donald Trump may be closer to putting an end to a line of ‘Trump” toilets made and sold in China – along with more than 225 other Chinese products that bear his name

Trump gets no money for the sale of these products, and has waged a trademark fight in Chinese courts at least since 2006.

Trump won a court victory last year when a judge in China ruled that the president could use the “Trump” brand for construction services. This followed an earlier court ruling that sided with a Chinese citizen over the use of the name since the court, at the time, did not consider Trump a famous or noteworthy person.

As the leader of the free world, Trump appears to be past that hurdle. That should give Trump the ability to not only shut down the production of goods that carry his name without his consent, but allow him to use his name in some 49 pending trademark applications.

Meanwhile, the makers of the Trump-branded toilets say they intend to fight back to retain the name.

More details here.
