Messe Düsseldorf Cancels Wire and Tube Trade Fairs and Valve World Expo 2020

October 30, 2020
Messe Düsseldorf Cancels Wire and Tube Trade Fairs and Valve World Expo 2020 2

After close consultation with exhibitors and partners, Messe Düsseldorf has decided to cancel the wire and Tube trade fairs as well as the Valve World Expo planned for December due to current COVID-19 pandemic developments. In accordance with their regular cycles, the next editions of the three events will take place in Düsseldorf, Germany in 2022. The trade fairs planned by Messe Düsseldorf for 2021 are not affected by this decision.

“Due to the decision of the German federal and state governments on Oct. 28, trade fairs cannot be held until the end of November for the time being. This means that the last physical events of this year will not be held at the Düsseldorf location. Our hygiene and infection protection concept, which was well received by exhibitors and the focus on a European orientation of the trade fairs made it seem realistic until recently to hope for a successful staging with the highest protection possible for all parties involved. Due to the increasingly critical pandemic situation in Germany and the neighboring European countries, however, the situation had to be completely re-assessed. Against this background and currently high number of uncertainties on both the exhibitors' and visitors' side we have decided to cancel the trade fairs," explained Wolfram Diener, president and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf.

The next editions of wire and Tube, the two international No. 1 trade fairs for the wire, cable and tube industry, will take place in 2022 as scheduled. The same applies to Valve World Expo, the world's largest and most important trade fair for industrial fittings.

“Exhibitors and visitors can continue gathering information on the latest news from the industry as well as trends and product innovations on our online platforms. With this in mind we are constantly developing our digital content,” explained Diener. “The decision is an event- and industry-specific decision that does not affect the other events planned by Messe Düsseldorf. Based on the current state of affairs, these will take place as planned. We are in close contact with the authorities and the partners of the respective trade fairs, with whom we will reassess the situation in a timely manner and then decide responsibly,” he added.
