TDIndustries is planning to hire 50 U.S. veterans and 20 military spouses in 2017 as part of the “Hiring Our Heroes” nationwide initiative, from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The national effort seeks to find employment for 500,000 in businesses of all sizes across the country.
The initiative began after the U.S. Department of Labor and the VA released estimates that more than one million service men and women would be leaving the armed forces within the next five years. The hope was that commitment from businesses to hire half a million vets would inspire more organizations to hire our heroes. To date, the initiative has surpassed its original goal, with more than 2,000 companies committing to hire more than 700,000 veterans and military spouses.
“TD is home to a large number of veterans, and we’re proud to commit to hiring 50 vets and military spouses this year,” says CEO Harold MacDowell. “Veterans bring a wealth of knowledge and discipline to our organization. Not only have they given of themselves for our country, but they continue to give of themselves to their fellow TDPartners (TD employee-owners) and to the communities in which they work.”
