Plumbing, HVAC Veteran Launches Plumbing by APPointment

Nearly 1,200 people have downed the billyGO app since it launched Sept. 1 in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area.

billyGO founder and CEO Billy Stevens said the enthusiastic reception the company has received is even greater than anticipated.

“Our first day of business we had five fully equipped trucks and plumbers in service,” he said, “and 90 days later we have three more trucks on order to keep up with all the business.”

billyGO launched as the nation’s first locally owned and operated home services company to manage all key business functions with its own proprietary mobile app, including scheduling, dispatching, map routing, work statements, invoicing and payment processing.

Stevens says the app reduces overhead costs by about 30 percent, compared to the traditional phone-based home service business model. This enables billyGO to pay employees more than industry norms and attract top talent. Stevens is no newcomer to the industry: during the mid-1990s into the 2010s he built one of the Dallas/Fort Worth market’s biggest and busiest plumbing and HVAC companies and sold it to a private equity firm.

Customers download the app free of charge from the Apple App Store or Google play and use it immediately to schedule plumbing and air conditioning service appointments. Customers control the scheduling process, selecting one-hour service window times. The app’s algorithm selects the technician in best position to respond to the request, based on work in progress and locations of billyGO technicians.

The app sends confirmation to customers, along with the names and photos of the technicians who will come to their homes. Customers also can track the responding technician’s location visually on the app and receive text updates.

Stevens emphasizes that all billyGo plumbers and technicians are employed by the company and are not contractors.

“Our employees receive customer service training as well as technical training,“ he said. “Customers have choices, so we set the bar high for courteous, professional service to go with the unprecedented convenience and time savings our app brings to the process.”
