In 2023, PHCPPros launched a new rep agency specifically for brand ambassadors in the PHCP community, PROS REPS. Our clients include highly skilled and influential professionals who showcase their profession, love of the trades, and the products they use and install to their thousands of social media followers.
PROS REPS client Armando Ramos is the owner of Plomero en Phoenix, a leading plumbing company in Phoenix, Arizona. He has leveraged his massive social media following to create influential content for both Spanish- and English-speaking communities.
PHCPPros: How did you enter a career in the trades?
Ramos: Oh, it was a bit of a happy accident. I was just working at a fast food place when I stumbled upon a job fair. At the fair, an electrical company was showcasing all the perks of working in the trades. It got me curious, so I decided to give it a shot. Turns out, I absolutely loved it! The hands-on work and problem-solving were right up my alley. Eventually, I switched over to plumbing, and I haven't regretted it for a second.
PHCPPros: How did you find your specialty within the trades?
Ramos: I entered a career in residential service plumbing because I've always been passionate about working with my hands, solving practical problems, and troubleshooting unknown plumbing issues. It is fulfilling to tackle complex challenges that arise in existing homes, which I wouldn't experience if I solely focused on new construction.
PHCPPros: Why did you decide to start using social media to share what you do with the world at large?
Ramos: I wanted to showcase the value and importance of the trades. I saw an opportunity to educate and inspire others while breaking stereotypes associated with skilled trades.
PHCPPros: What is your favorite type of content to share with your followers? What gets the most engagement?
Ramos: My favorite type of content is educational and informative posts that provide insights into my trade. They generate the most engagement, as people appreciate learning new things and gaining a better understanding of what I do.
PHCPPros: What kind of advice would you give to people in the industry who may want to do something similar to you on social media?
Ramos: My advice would be to start by showcasing your passion and expertise. Be authentic, share your knowledge generously, and engage with your audience. Consistency and quality content are key.
PHCPPros: How do you think the industry can use social media as a tool to encourage the next generation to join the trades?
Ramos: Social media can be a powerful tool for encouraging the next generation to join the trades. By showcasing the diverse career opportunities, the impact of trades on society, and success stories, we can inspire young individuals to consider the trades as a fulfilling and rewarding path.
PHCPPros: So, what kind of advice would you give people who are looking to enter the trades?
Ramos: Pursue your passion and find a trade that aligns with your interests. Seek apprenticeships or training programs to gain hands-on experience, and don't be afraid to ask questions and learn from experienced professionals.
PHCPPros: Is there anything else from your personal life you'd like to highlight?
Ramos: In my personal life, I value work-life balance and spending quality time with my loved ones. It's important to find joy in both professional and personal aspects of life, and I strive to maintain a healthy balance between the two.
